Roses (2011)

A promotional film telling the story of the 2011 Roses tournament held between the universities of Lancaster and York.

The Roses Tournament is an annual sports competition between Lancaster University and the University of York. The competition takes its name from the 15th Century 'Wars of the Roses' between the Houses of Lancaster and York. Just as competitive, but less violent, the Roses tournament is held every summer, alternating its venue between the two universities.

2011 was York's turn to host the tournament after losing away at Lancaster the previous year. The film showcases the importance of Roses to York residents and students. From the rowing competition that takes place in the city centre, to the Rugby 1st's match at York City Knight's Stadium, this video demonstrates the value for sponsors who support the talented individuals who organise and compete in the largest inter-university tournament in Europe.
